Making Friends
I’ve been in Portland since August, but I’ve only just decided to begin actively making my life better.
In January I began attending Hack Portland at Big Room Studios, which has been wildly beneficial to my wellbeing, and has led me to meet some great people, among them, a fantastic new friend I’ve been seeing twice a week now for general chats, schemes, and plans.
While attending the Maine democratic caucus two months later, I began chatting with the girl standing next to me in line. I was an awkward mess, but we found some common ground and began chatting about English television, Star Trek, and comic book characters. As we neared the end of the queue after nearly five hours of waiting and interspersed conversation, I worked up the courage to ask if we could stay in touch, we exchanged numbers, and we’ve had the pleasure of preparing dinner together and going through Daredevil S2 together.
