February Tracks
Time for another playlist – here’s what I was listening to last month.
- Gum – Thanks, Spotify; this song is awesome.
- Another +1 to Spotify; what a catchy chorus. I’ll probably never be a famous writer, but I can read and write okay.
- My new favorite track from Aesop Rock – I cannot wait for The Impossible Kid this April. Bring up the lyrics and listen through this line by line. Aesop’s work is often very metaphorical and obscure, but he made it very clear that he still struggles with being a failed visual artist, and boy, can I relate.
- River Oaks – I didn’t realize Shane Told had a side project, but I’m really glad Spotify let me know about it. I’ve been listening to his band Silverstein for more than a decade now, ever since getting my hands on When Broken Is Easily Fixed, I think after hearing about them from a Victory Records sampler. Plus, an interview with Shane on a DVD extra with their second record was the first time I heard the word “vegan.”
- YMAEWK has had a rocky few years with their vocalist’s alcoholism, but man, I hope these guys keep making music.
- I’ve been listening to Say Anything a lot after their new record, “I Don’t Think It Is” came out. “Rum” is my favorite track on the record.
- What the hell, one more. This was one of their early, early tracks, and man, it’s gold.
- This is a track I actually heard at work from our lead dev. Thanks, Matt :)
- My Spotify Discover playlists were really good this month.
- Another Spotify Discover suggestion. They just released a new record a few weeks ago, and it’s great – I really appreciate this flavor of pop-punk.
- It might get to a point where I just start posting my Discover playlists.
- I have a softspot for Icelandic music – one day I’ll post a playlist of just Icelandic artists, and it’s going to be awesome.
